Industrial Inspired Open Kitchen/Living Room – NJ
This homeowner loves to cook and entertain. The challenge was to design a kitchen with a masculine feel and an open flow. The wall between the previous dining room and kitchen was opened up and the living room and dining room were swapped. The living room is open invitingly to the kitchen allowing for interaction between guests and host. Most importantly to the homeowner is the custom stereo system that would be easily accessible and enjoyed.
The kitchen was squared off by capturing space from the backyards entry. This kitchen uses industrial elements with a more sophisticated, refined finish. A fabulous concrete island counter centers the kitchen and allows a large workspace with room to move around. Colored glass for the window walls and a beautiful dark pillow tile wall add texture and interest. Various metals are used from the metal laminate on the doors of the corner walk-in pantry, copper pendant lights, wrought iron pot rack and to a custom designed moveable island from salvaged industrial metal all add their to make this kitchen interesting and practical. The mixture of blues for the color palette is whimsical, fun and everyone enjoys.
